Thank you for your interest in My IEP®. In a 2010-2011 quasi-experimental study, using the My IEP® curriculum raised student active participation (as measured by percentage of talk time) in IEP meetings from a mean of 2.15% to 36.78%! Special education teacher talk time was also reduced, from 46.95% to 22.92%. My IEP® meetings were shorter, students recalled significantly more IEP knowledge, and parents, students, teachers, and school staff were happier.
My IEP® is easy to teach to your whole class, small group, or one-on-one using the contents of the multimedia CD-ROM:
Folding graphic organizer templates. Print as many as you need for the students in your classroom.
Scripted lesson plans in Essential Elements of Effective Instruction (EEEI) format.
Authentic video example of a student leading her IEP meeting using the My IEP® curriculum.
Step-by-step demonstration videos on how to make each template.
Step-by-step demonstration video to make a 'placemat' that students use to keep their graphic organizers in order during the meeting (or you may purchase a pre-made one below).
Additional resources, including a self-advocacy slideshow, IEP invitations for the student to distribute, accommodations and assistive-technology checklist, name tent template, and more.
The original 2010-2011 quasi-experimental study showed the My IEP® curriculum (then called The Foldable IEP) to be effective at a Title I high school in Southern California that primarily services students who are culturally and linguistically diverse. Students who used My IEP® curriculum:
Ninth grade students were participants in this initial study, but My IEP® would work equally well for secondary students in any grade level who have an IEP in any mild/moderate special education program. To learn more about the study and the benefits to students leading their IEP meeting, please see the article published October 19, 2016 in Exceptionality at http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/09362835.2016.1216850.
The entire My IEP® content comes on one CD-ROM formatted to work with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Each CD-ROM purchased is for the sole use of the individual who purchased it. Sharing the disc with others or printing materials from the disc for others is a violation of the limited use license agreement.
